The foundation stone of DAV Post Graduate College, Siwan was laid down in 1942 by the renowned educationist, social reformer, iconoclast and innovative Arya Samaji of Siwan, Late Baidyanath Prasad, also famous as Daadhi Baba, in the backdrop of freedom movement of India. His initial vision was to strike a fine balance between tradition and modernity coupled with a strong desire for freedom, building a well-educated society, breaking the shackles of orthodoxy and shaping the character of an ideal citizen. Several national level scholars like Dr. Nagendra, the eminent Hindi scholar, Dr. Devraj, an esteemed modernist academic having profound knowledge of Psychology and Philosophy, Dr. B. B. Mishra, an erudite historian having deep knowledge of the Indian middle-class and bureaucracy, the famed mathematician Dr. Jhamman Lal Sharma and the percipient Hindi litterateur Dr. Dhirendra Brahmachari Shastri had had a close relationship with this college, which bears testimony to the cosmopolitan vision of the founder of the college.
