As a premier college of Jai Prakash University, Chapra, D.A.V. Post Graduate College, Siwan endeavours for quality education with a commitment towards serving the deprived section of society and empowering future generations through the power of education. The college is known for its academic excellence as it has garnered highest number of gold medals in the University in various programmes. Established in 1941 by the renowned educationist, social reformer and Arya Samaji of Siwan, Late Baidyanath Prasad, also famous as Daadhi Baba, the institution became a constituent unit of Bihar University, Muzaffarpur under the Bihar State Universities Act, 1976. The college has also been recognised under section 2f and 12B of UGC Act, 1956 . Located in the heart of Siwan town, the college is spread over 16 acres of land with a built up area of 6604 square metres. There are spacious departments and well-furnished classrooms with essential teaching aids such as display boards and ICT facility, NCC rooms, Girls common room, huge sports ground, spacious Library, Reading room, Computer Laboratory and Science or Social Science Laboratories in addition to a spacious Auditorium to provide space for various curricular and cocurricular activities. The College is WiFi enabled to keep students updated about latest developments in their fields and to offer a technologically advanced experience to all engaged in academia. The College Library has over 30 thousand books including journals, periodicals, and magazines. The Students can also avail online journals through N-LIST facilitated by INFLIBNET Centre. In addition to academics and research work initiatives, the College also focuses on the multidimensional development of the students through co-curricular activities and the College has Cultural Committee, Sports Committee, Women Development Cell, NCC and NSS to provide the platform to the students to showcase their varied skills and also serve to sensitize them towards various issues related to different aspects of life.
